Abstract

In today’s information age, innovation has become the first power of social development, which is regarded as the basis of the overall competitiveness of a country or a region. As teachers play the key role in educational reform and development, teacher innovation capability is highly demanded. The aim of this research is to understand the relationship between transformational leadership and teacher innovation capability in the context of higher education in Hainan. The study uses mixed research methodology to examine the impact of transformational leadership on teacher innovation capability by collecting data from 345 college teachers in Hainan. The result of this study will be of great significance to the research theories on leadership and teacher development and practices related to leader and teacher training programs in higher education and contribute to the local educational improvement and economic growth.
