Abstract

This research studies a successful model for transferring digital twin technology for maintenance of industrial machinery, with a focus on Thailand’s medium to large automotive parts manufacturing industry. Given the rapid advancement of technology, the study aims to develop a framework that facilitates effective technology transfer, enhances maintenance practices, and supports workforce readiness. The model integrates key variables including technology recipients, technology providers, technological complexity, communication methods, inter-organizational relationships, and contextual factors. Using a mixed-methods approach—quantitative surveys (N=320) and qualitative in-depth interviews (n=20)—the study applies structural equation modeling (SEM) and thematic analysis to identify success factors. Findings aim to guide industry practitioners, training institutions, and policymakers in implementing digital twin technology and extending the model to other advanced technologies.
