Abstract

Smart sports venues represent a new model integrating the sports industry and information industry, driven by breakthroughs in next-generation information technologies and the fusion of the digital and real economies. This study explores the construction, operation patterns, and application of smart sports venues, proposing a three-layer system model (technology, resource, and application layers), five operational modes, and four scene marketing strategies. Using stakeholder theory, holistic governance theory, experience economy theory, and sustainable development theory, the research employs literature review, questionnaire surveys, expert interviews, and field surveys. An index system with 47 third-level indicators was developed through two rounds of expert consultation and applied to evaluate 62 venues across six provinces in eastern and central China. Results indicate high importance placed on smart venue features (mean importance = 4.04), but low satisfaction with current implementation (mean satisfaction = 2.71). The study concludes with strategic recommendations for supply-side enhancement, certification systems, and public awareness promotion, and outlines future research directions including certification standards, technology impact analysis, urban integration, and privacy considerations.
