This study examines how different leadership styles affect the performance of Generation Y employees in Chinese companies, with a focus on the mediating role of employee burnout. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from multiple branches of a Chinese organization through a structured questionnaire administered to 375 Generation Y employees (aged 28–43, with at least one year of employment). Descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and regression analysis were employed to analyze the relationships among leadership styles (transformational, transactional, and abusive), burnout, and job performance. Findings indicate that transformational leadership significantly reduces burnout and enhances performance, transactional leadership shows mixed effects depending on context, and abusive leadership negatively impacts both burnout and performance. The study highlights the importance of leadership flexibility and supportive work environments in optimizing employee outcomes.Downloads
